July 2017 Letter from the Editor

Ah, July. Nothing better than celebrating the lazy, hazy days of summer reclining in a hammock, sipping iced tea, and . . . Are you kidding me?

Yes, it’s July, and if you’re a writer, a serious writer, no lollygagging allowed. Do you realize that a book makes it onto Amazon every five minutes? That’s serious competition. But you know what? Someone made the effort, and his or her book is out there ready to be read because… wait for it… he wasn’t reclining in a hammock, sipping iced tea.

Writers write. Writers market. Writers network. Writers wear so many hats lounging isn't a luxury we can afford. All right. I guess if you’ve released a new book, finished a draft, completed a particularly harrowing chapter, we'll give you a break.

Let's set the timer for ten minutes or so. By the way, while I'm lecturing you about productivity, keep up with the blog (and didn't the late and great George Orwell have some phenomenal writing advice for us?) and consider the numerous events Pikes Peak Writers has to offer its members.

Because we're serious about helping you get there, it’s July, and a book makes it on to Amazon every five minutes.

Wishing you a successful writing month.
