March Letter from the Editor

Destination: PPWC
Left, left, left, right, left.

We now have entered the third month of the calendar 2016, and the definition of March is to make steady progress. Isn’t that a cool definition?

Because for Pikes Peak Writers, March truly is the fireball hurling us toward that progress destination. And this month’s Writing from the Peak will be all about preparation for The 2016 Pikes Peak Writers Conference (April 15-17). The ultimate goal? Our writing careers.

Conferences can only do so much, though. Not that our conference committee hasn’t busted every corpuscle to make Conference an overwhelming success. But while showing up may be beneficial, it’s what you do to prepare that will get you the most out of your education dollars.

To that end Writing from the Peak wants to help. Last month, I sent out a call for articles to our stellar columnists with the following stipulation--please write about Conference. All right, I might have given them a few hints but they rose to the challenge. This month we have articles such as To Marriott or Not to Marriott; Workshop Etiquette (Suggested behavior for attendees, moderators and speakers); and we also have a creative explanation and plea from Stacy S. Jensen about what kind of items she's looking for for the Pikes Peak Writers Silent Auction.

These are just a few of the articles in the cue. Of course, we have our standard craft and writing-related blogs. I'm also proud to say we have a full stable of Sweet Successes this month because our members rock!

Speaking of Sweet Successes, Zebulon Contest Coordinator Dawn Smit allowed me to share with you the link to our Zebulon winners in the prestigious multi-genre writing competition.  http://www.pikespeakwriters.com/contest/contest-winners-2016/

Chances are every event this month has something to do with Conference. Check out PPW website here to learn more. We think it's a big deal and we want you there. In fact, we’re doing everything but lacing up your boots for you.

Here's to steady progress this month and a fabulous March.
